The Australasian Society for HIV Medicine invites applications for its Australasian HIV/AIDS conference scholarships. These enable attendance at the Australasian HIV/AIDS conference, to be held in Perth from 16 to 19 September 2019. Two types of scholarships are available:

  • clinicians scholarship, for sexual health physicians, HIV s100 prescribers or hospital based specialists managing HIV and clinicians with a higher case load, those from remote and rural areas will be given preference;
  • nurses and pharmacists scholarship, for registered nurses and pharmacists. and those from smaller centres will be given preference.

Applicants must be living and working in Australia. Those who have not attended this conference before and those who have not received funding from the society in the past will be given preference.

Scholarships cover flights, accommodation and registration.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be living and working in Australia AND   
  • Not have received scholarship funding from ASHM in the last 2 years AND
  • Be an HIV s100 prescriber (GP/Primary care) OR
  • A Sexual Health Physician  OR
  • A Hospital Based Specialists managing HIV

Priority will be given to:

  • Clinicians with higher HIV case loads  
  • Clinicians from rural and remote areas managing patients with HIV or at risk of HIV 
  • Clinicians who meet the above criteria who have not attended this conference or other overseas HIV conferences before 

All applicants must complete the application form truthfully and advise ASHM if their situation changes. All scholarship holders will be expected to blog from the conference (according to specific guidelines), provide some content for the conference report and also to participate in one or more report backs after the conference. The nature of the report back will be negotiated with the recipient and be influenced by location and range.
