Ellen Yates Memorial Grant-in-Aid for Lung Cancer Research
In 2019/2020, there is ONE (1) Grant in Aid opportunity valued at $20,000 over one (1) year to assist research into Lung Cancer. Other Thoracic Cancers such as Mesothelioma, Thymomas, mediastinal tumours and chest wall tumours will also be considered. The Lung Cancer Grant in Aid Award is open to any individual health care professional or scientist, who will undertake and publish a specific focused research project on lung cancer or associated cancers as listed above. The research can relate to any aspect of lung cancer research including molecular basis of the disease, its diagnosis, treatment, improved management and care and the evaluation of palliative strategies in the advance disease setting. Note that these funds are to be used to support proof of concept or pilot research. In most cases, this grant in aid is not meant to provide sole support for the research activities, but instead act as seed money for developing projects (data collection) to the point of attracting additional external funding; or as a top up grant–in-aid to assist with undertaking a currently funded research project (for example: statistical review of a newly completed project, biostatistics, transcription, technical staff support, equipment/consumables) Information should also be provided on other sources of project funding and how the grant would be used if the application were to be successful. Preference will be given to small projects (ie Pilot studies; data collection processes) which could be completed in a 12 month time frame. |
