Using data from the Australian Childhood Cancer Registry that includes detailed diagnostic and treatment information, a multitude of long-term outcomes (ranging from basic health care utilization patterns to specific outcomes like mental health, fecundity or cardiac) can be explored among Queensland residents with the ACCR data being linked to state administrative health data. The linkage of the ACCR with Queensland Health administrative data allows for the examination of health outcomes of and treatment consequences for survivors of childhood cancer, together with the resultant health service use and diverse needs of this growing population. The goal of this research is to ultimately improve the care for patient and family, together with improving the efficiency of healthcare. Specific HDR scholarships are available for HDRs working in this area.
