Human resources

The Faculty of Medicine HR Team is responsible for enabling the achievement of the Faculty’s strategic objectives and supporting the broader University’s ambitions through attracting, developing and retaining talented, engaged and high performing staff.  The Faculty HR Team provides a full range of end to end HR services including (but not limited to) recruitment, workplace relations, change management, organisational development and coaching for leaders.

Marketing and communications

From media and communications and social media to video production, brand queries and website development, we are the team to contact. While we have a team of specialists based at Herston, you will only ever have to talk to a single Marketing and Communications Manager who will manage your request and work with the team to develop a solution to suit your needs.


Our team provides advice and assistance for a wide range of OHS matters, including biological, chemical and radiation safety, event planning, scheduled substances management, ergonomics, waste disposal, occupational hygiene and chemical management. We are also able to help put you in touch with the appropriate people for help and advice on ethics in research, health surveillance, vaccination and wellness programs.

Operations (Administration)

The operations team plays an important role in ensuring the smooth and effective provision of executive support, administrative and reception functions across our Faculty. We are working towards providing exceptional service to our clients and are dedicated to ensuring we are a step ahead at all times with an aim to be solution focused. A review is currently underway to ensure our team is receiving support regardless of their location, providing opportunities for networking, role sharing/leave coverage, career growth and process improvements.  Also underway is the development of an agreed set of service standards that will govern the operations of the consolidated administration team.

Research and clinical research support

Our Research Development Officers and Clinical Research Liaison Officers can provide advice on research funding schemes, coordinate funding application processes and seek out new opportunities of interest to our researchers and clinical researchers.  They will also provide our researchers with links and guidance to other sections of the Faculty and University in relation to research governance, compliance obligations and the conduct and reporting of your research projects.  In addition, the Clinical Research Liaison Officers provide extra support to our academic title holders & clinical researchers in the Clinical Units, to find and use the University’s support and processes for carrying out research at UQ.

RHD support

Our Postgraduate Administration Officers can provide advice and assistance in to students and advisors in regard to Higher Degree Research programs in the Faculty of Medicine.  The HDR team will assist with student and supervisor enquiries regarding HDR opportunities in our Faculty, and information and processes for applications, scholarship applications, enrolment, candidature management, milestones and thesis submission.
