Professor Karen Moritz is the Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland and leads the developmental programming in disease research team in the Child Health Research Centre and the School of Biomedical Sciences.

Professor Moritz completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne. Following a post-doctoral fellowship at Monash University she moved to the University of Queensland in 2006 where she established an independent research program. In 2016 she became the Director of The University of Queensland’s Child Health Research Centre. In January 2021 Professor Moritz commenced in the role of Associate Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Medicine.

Professor Moritz has held 4 consecutive NHMRC fellowships, 8 project grants and most recently a partnership grant. In total she has been awarded more than $15 million in funding.

Professor Moritz maintains a strong commitment to the teaching of students, including lectures and research student supervision in undergraduate programs, supervision of Honours students and supervision of higher degree research students.
