On November 30, 2015, the Faculty of M+BS held its annual Excellence Awards ceremony where we recognised the efforts of those within our faculty and those working with our faculty.
Staff from across our schools and institutes were recognised for their contribution to the faculty’s vision of being among the best faculties of medicine and biomedical sciences worldwide.
In addition to the Excellence Awards, those staff members who received promotions in 2015 were also recognised.
There were five professorial promotions within the Faculty, awarded to Professor Andrew Barbour, Professor Jason Connor, Professor David Copland, Professor Karen Moritz, and Professor Jane Turner.
The Faculty's level B promotions included Dr Xin Liu, Dr Carla Meurk, Dr Jatin Patel and Dr Rebecca Pelekanos.
Dr Rebecca Hill, Dr Stephen Mattarollo, Dr Enzo Porrello, Dr Leanne Sakzewski, Dr Koa Whittingham and Dr Brianna Fjeldsoe were all succesful in receiving level C promotions.
Our level D promotions included Dr Genevieve Healy, Dr Michelle Hill, Dr Stuart Mazzone, Dr Michael Piper and Dr Ethan Scott.
Congratulations go to all staff who were awarded promotions in 2015.
The M+BS Excellence Awards ceremony was held at the new Oral Health Centre at UQ’s Herston campus and was hosted by Executive Dean, Professor Nicholas Fisk.
Professor Steve Wesselingh, from SAHMRI was the keynote speaker for the night, and addressed the audience with his reflections on his career in medical research.
Staff enjoyed drinks and canapes and musical entertainment in a relaxed setting before and after the ceremony.
