Two researchers from the Faculty of Medicine have been selected by Cure Cancer to receive funding in 2024.

Dr Arutha Kulasinghe and Dr Zhian Chen from the UQ Frazer Institute will both receive funding for lung cancer research over 2 years.

Working as a Senior Research Fellow at UQ, Dr Kulasinghe has contributed to world first studies into lung, head and neck cancer.

Dr Chen leads a team that investigates T and B cell responses that regulate vaccine responses and anti-tumour immunity.

The other UQ recipient is Dr Taskeen Janjua from the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences, who will use her funding to research brain cancer.

More than a hundred applications were made for the grants across the country, with 14 being selected for funding.
