Editorial - December 2019

We have a lot of interesting articles and news in this Christmas-themed edition of the Newsletter. Andy Reed writes about medicine at the time of Christ and Dr Pierre Barbet’s theories about the crucifixion. Jim Nixon looks at a collection of baby pap boats and rattles bequeathed to the Museum, and Robert Craig presents an article about a once common practice for teething infants. Following on from our first ‘Mysteries of the Medical Building’, we delve below the floor of the level 5 eastern annex. Also, we have news of the comings and goings of volunteers at the Museum and a review of Craigston House and its involvement in the annual Open House program.

I hope that you enjoy our Christmas edition.

Andy Reed
