Created especially for our year 1 and 2 Clinical Coaches, this session will be co-facilitated with Prof. Liz Molloy form the University of Melbourne. Prof. Molloy and her colleagues' work is transforming our approaches to understanding and implementing feedback so it is educationally effective. In this session participants will:

  • Define feedback (new way of thinking)
  • Discuss why feedback can be problematic in your context
  • Describe the notion of ‘feedback literacy’ where learner ‘know how’ and active involvement is privileged
  • Explain the benefits for learners in seeking feedback information from multiple parties
  • Describe how task design and closing the loop is imperative for effective feedback
  • Discuss the role of trust in promoting honest reflective conversations focused on performance development
  • Highlight organisational factors and processes that support productive feedback
  • Set two clear goals for your own development as a facilitator of feedback in your teaching context
  • Apply Feedback Mark 2 principles in a simulated feedback conversation with a learner (seeking feedback on you’re your feedback skills).
