OHS Training, induction and refresher program

The University hosts a great diversity of activities and is responsible for the safety of everyone involved with, and affected by, those activities. The University has an obligation to ensure that safety training and induction processes are provided to all workers; this training provides the capability for all personnel to identify and manage hazards in the workplace and to ensure that all workers are aware of emergency procedures and systems.

Induction and training systems are available to all categories of workers accessing UQ facilities, including contractors, students and staff. The University has access to a broad range of training expertise from internal and external providers and where required, highly specialised training (eg. X-ray diffraction plant, chemical inventory management, laser equipment, 4WD, boat handling) can be provided.

What OHS training/induction will I need to undertake?

To best identify the process of training and induction that you will need to undertake please refer to the UQ training needs analysis.

OHS Training requirements, induction and calendar

Keep up-to-date with the latest OHS training requirements.

Workers without access to UQ Blackboard

In the event that a UQ worker (e.g. volunteer, visiting researcher) does not have (and will not be getting) access to UQ Blackboard, access to copies of the UQ Workplace OH&S induction and training modules are provided here.

There will be no record of completion recorded electronically - you will need to maintain records locally. For Volunteers, it is recommended that a copy of the completed competency assessment be attached to the "Volunteer Application Form".

Local site inductions

Local site inductions will be required in addition to this training – please contact your HR or Safety Manager for further advice.
