Curator's introduction

It was wonderful to be able to meet so many of you in person at our recent exhibition launch, which we were lucky enough to squeeze in between lockdowns. For those of you who couldn’t join us rest assured there will be many more invitations to come! The event was an overwhelming success and has been summarised in a short article below. Be sure to have a look at the photos from the event if you haven’t already.

Also in this edition, Robert leads us in a tightrope walk along the thin line between misguided treatment and charlatanism. From the funny to the dangerous, his observations in the article will certainly provoke further thought. If you need a conversation starter at your next dinner party, look no further.

The Museum has recently welcomed a wonderful new volunteer, a Museum Studies intern and a group of four student researchers each of whom has brought a wave of energy, curiosity and infectious enthusiasm to our work. It’s an absolute joy to host them and we hope to feature their work in future editions.

Thanks to our readership survey results and growing Museum community, 2022 will see some exciting changes to our newsletter. I encourage anyone with a story to share to talk to us about contributing to future editions. We would love to include your photos and anecdotes, questions and letters, or perhaps you’d like to help us investigate an unknown collection object (it’s great fun!). Go to our website for more details.

Until the next edition, wishing you all health and happiness,

Charla
