Sleep development in children

Description: | This project seeks to evaluate data from a large community longitudinal study of sleep in early childhood. The project will concentrate on parent responses collected monthly relating to changes in sleep in their child aiming to identify specific transitions that represent developmental change. This will be the first step in determining sleep profiles in early childhood. |
Expected outcomes and deliverables: | Opportunity to work child focused data Working with diverse researchers from multiple disciplines learning qualitative and quantitative skills and applying these to a large dataset |

Improving assessment and diagnostic practices of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder

Description: | We have a client database available for children and young people who have attended out UQ Neurodevelopmental Clinic. This is a clinic for children who have suspected or confirmed prenatal alcohol exposure. We are interested in undertaking studies that will help improve understanding and improve assessment and diagnostic practices through the use of our available database. |
Expected outcomes and deliverables: | Work together to plan and undertake a research study of appropriate interest and scope for an interested summer student with data we have available in our clinic database. |
Suitable for: | Pre-medical students, students considering a PhD. But also open to other students with an interest in the area. Ideally students who have had some prior statistical experience even just through coursework. |
