Meet with your advisory team to:
- Discuss your project and to establish expectations (of both you and your advisor/s) for your candidature. There is an “Expectations Survey” that can be used to assist in this discussion: you and your advisor/s should each fill out the form independently prior to your meeting;
- Discuss Intellectual property and whether or not you need to complete a SIPCA (Student IP assignment and confidentiality deed) to assign your intellectual property to UQ
- Set up a regular meeting schedule with your advisor/s
- Familiarise yourself with the Faculty HDR milestones, including the compulsory 3 month review
- Discuss ethical clearance for your project with your advisor/s, if applicable. Students generally require clearance from both UQ and the relevant hospital.
- Discuss with your advisor/s, if you need to comply with Queensland Health infectious disease screening and vaccination requirements.
- Attend a Graduate School International Student Orientation (compulsory for international students)
- Attend a Graduate School Orientation session (compulsory for ALL students). Visit here and scroll down for the next ‘Orientation session'
- Attend a FoM induction session (compulsory) - this will provide Faculty-specific information about HDR milestones, library resources for students, statistical support provided, IT services, research integrity, and intellectual property considerations.
Please register here as a future student for the FoM induction session.
